Wednesday, 29th June 2022 - BRØNNØYSUND/Brønnøy to ØRSTA-VOLDA/Hovden
Had to wait for a good enough weather gap as it wasn’t great around Brønnoysund, but we made it out by mid-afternoon for another gorgeous flight, back down, our now familiar route to Ørsta.
Carb-icing!! 🥶 eeep!! Good job Adam spotted it!!!
(Carburetor icing exists when the moisture inside an engine's carburetor drops below freezing and water vapour freezes onto the throttle valve and other internal surfaces of the carburetor. The build-up of icing inside the carburetor causes a reduction of the fuel/air flow through the carburetor and into the engine. To clear the ice, apply full throttle and pull the carburetor heat knob full out until the engine runs smoothly; then remove carburetor heat and readjust the throttle.)
The weather cleared the further south we got!! Just in time to weave through the stunning valleys on the way in to land at Ørsta, back to what feels like very familiar territory (this was our first overnight Norwegian stop at the start of our journey!!!!)
We got to speak to more of the flying club guys at Ørsta, which was great…!! Including an ex-military pilot (Jon (Diver)) who was showing us and telling us about his plane, which he had built himself!!! So much pride in his achievement!!
Pitched our little tent back at the campsite after a lakeside ice cream (of course!!) and had some food.
Jon (Diver)'s self made plane!
